Back when he was unknown, I saw Kid Rock in an industry showcase opening for Monster Magnet

Kid Rock himself wasn't that bad... he was Kid Rock! More like, the people who were there to see him weren't fans, they were all suits.
Me, I was there to see the headliner, Monster Magnet (Superjudge is still in my album rotation). This was the first time I heard Kid Rock, and I thought he was strange, but not awful. Definitely energetic. It just wasn't a set for fans, that's why it sucked: It was the audience! :-)
