to both Android and iOS devices, transcoding the content into a format approprite for each. The bulk of the problem appears to be Android as there are numerous iOS only solutions. There are also many UPnP/DLNA solutions but those do not account for remote access via the Internet (3G or public WiFi). And it seems each product I come across has a major deficiency in one area that makes it unsuitable.

        if i understand write, you dont have to use a freeagent drive, any usb drive (so therefore an exteneral usb 1tb drive maybe) would work. - tRuMaN Dec 23, 13:02 3
