if i understand write, you dont have to use a freeagent drive, any usb drive (so therefore an exteneral usb 1tb drive maybe) would work.

i havent tried it with the dockstar (it came with pogoplug for free) but the manual said it would stream from any connected storage via usb.

so i would assume its the same with pogoplug.
