He's a Boras client. As such, he most likely wants the most money.

I'm sure playing for a contender helps and could be worth a discount. As does playing near his home or his wife's home.
There is always the chance that he still harbors the grudge he had towards Boston from when he came out of HS. At that time, or after he was drafted out of college, he said something like he would never play for Boston. Of course, I'm pretty sure other people were in charge then, and they were a worse team then, so he could have changed his mind.
