There's zero question it's a bad fiscal move

he gave up a year of his career in the NFL to get to what the NFL is going to make sure is the most important contract (the 2nd one) for the tiny increase that the rookie cap will change in from 2011 to 2012.

The NBA cap in 2004 for #1 was 3.483m...in 2005 it jumped to 3.617. So for them, that one year was a jump of $134k.

1 year's interest alone on a 40mil signing bonus on Contract #2 is at least $400k at 1%. That delay in 1 year woulda been a loss of $266k.
