You're presuming there is only one contract under discussion. His career will have many contracts if he excels at his craft.

I'm genuinely surprised how many people who understand sports are missing the forest for the trees on this one. An NFL labor agreement is far from guaranteed and in lieu of it, he's better off at Stanford.
