I went to the Grand Canyon when I was driving cross country in 1992. Turned out it as Free Admission Day. Talk about amzing luck.

since I was an impoverished grad student at the time, it was AWESOME. we hit the Painted Desert at sunset on the same pass, and it was equally awesome.
