I don't know that outrage is called for here, but I have to wonder, why not use some other bogus holiday to make up a snow day?

Knock a day off of Spring Break. Or maybe kill one of the absolutely useless "teacher development" days that all districts have now.
I guess I don't get why you would choose MLK Day, especially when you KNOW it will cause an outcry.
