"Trish Keenan, the lead singer of electronic band Broadcast, has died from pneumonia after becoming ill with the swine flu virus while touring in Australia.
Ms Keenan, whose band were recently selected by Simpsons creator Matt Groening to play the All Tomorrow's Parties festival, passed away this morning, her record label has confirmed.
'It is with great sadness we announce that Trish Keenan from Broadcast passed away at 9am this morning in hospital,' said a statement on the Warp website.
'She died from complications with pneumonia after battling the illness for two weeks in intensive care.'
Ms Keenan picked up the H1N1 virus while on a tour of Australia and had been on a life support machine since Christmas.
Her record label's statement added 'Our thoughts go out to [bandmates] James [Cargill], [manager] Martin [Pike], her friends and her family and we request that the public respect their wishes for privacy at this time.
'This is an untimely tragic loss and we will miss Trish dearly - a unique voice, an extraordinary talent and a beautiful human being. Rest in Peace.'
