Oh i read this article! My mom raised me similarly though perhaps not so dictatorial. I turned out ok.

All the forcing of violin and piano lessons? totally did it. no food and other restrictions to get me to do things? of course. beatings with a meter stick? not uncommon.
but i got almost straight A's throughout high school and had a successful university career. i also don't think im a memorizing robot.
and i love my mom more than anyone will ever know.
