In response to "I looked this up out of curiosity, anyone care to guess the # of movies that have grossed over 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 700M domestically?" by MDH

Since I screwed up the poll, the answers I intended are inside:

Movies finishing with grosses in the:

200s: 72
300s: 25
400s: 8
500s: 1
600s: 1
700s: 1

This seems to be a lot lower than I anticipated. I always thought 200M wasn't that hard (especially when I really started going to the movies) and that 300M was achieved fairly frequently.

Responses:

300+ has only been frequent this past 10 years or so. Before then, it was only the biggest of the big movies that made that much -- nm - Roger More Jan 14, 12:28
