The automatic ones aren't as accurate as the manual ones. The automatic ones are pretty cheap.

Yeah, I am pretty sure the companies make a ton of money on those test strips.
50 cents to $1 per strip. One or two months of strips and the company made up its monitor investment (probably, I don't know the exact numbers).
