Bwahahahhahahaha. Yeah. Right.

Didn't you read the story James Bond linked to earlier today? Parents brought a baby (under 2 years) into the ER. They waited and waited, the child got more and more lethargic as the fever went up. She developed a bruise like rash that started spreading. The father took her up to the triage nurse countless times begging for her to be seen, but the nurse just blew him off saying, "it's just a fever and a rash, kids get this all the time." Finally. after the baby lost conscienceness, the father took her in his arms, kicked the ER door open and demanded to see a doctor. After a short evaluation, the baby was airlifted to a larger hospital, where she was found to be septic (that means bacterial blood poisoning). She was in the hospital for several weeks and finally got to go home but not before both legs were amputated at the knee, one hand amputated and several fingers from the other hand amputated as well.

If the child had been treated right away at the first hospital, it's doubtful any amputations would have been necessary. I'm trying to remember, but I think that they waited over 12 hours in the first ER before Dad insisted on treatment. At some hospitals, 24 hour waits are not uncommon and the national norm is something like 6 hours. You're very lucky.
