Pipe heating tape, keep all cabinets and closets with exposed pipes open, turn up the heat

Or get a really big blowdryer.
p.s. actually you can go to Lowes or Home Depot and get this thing that looks like a blowdryer but it's like 4 times as hot. You can thaw your pipes with it, just be careful you don't set your house on fire.
Most homes and buildings in the Seattle area aren't built to withstand extreme cold, so the pipes, water heaters, etc aren't wrapped. You should invest a little money in heat tape for the pipes and a blanket for the hot water heater for future freezes. Also, if you know that temps are going below the teens, make sure you open up all cupboards, etc. Usually this lets the exposed parts of the pipes to stay warm enough so the whole thing doesn't freeze.
