It didn't really bug me in Book 1 since only one of them was present. And frankly, considering how she's still finding herself, being the one present if probably 75% of what she's needs/wants
I thought it was very well played the way she simply doesn't know what you wants. Not done in an immature, whiny, I can't make up my find way. But, rather, she's fundamentally unsure of who she is, what she needs/wants at the most basic level. It's not a "do I want the cute jock or the cute nerd" epidemic. It's an identity deflation crisis
I've never been a girl, nor had much use for them in that way, but this one seems realer than just about any 16-year-old I see in print/screen (if still broody and damaged)
