I've done it several times. After going a couple of times with my parents, I went once with my brother, then several times with my wife.

Only once have I ever gone with the kids.
I understand what you're suggesting though. You're saying you'd like to attend out of the presence of children. Frankly, they're not that intrusive if you don't let them be. There's plenty of things to do at the Disney parks that children won't/can't participate in. And other times, it's not like other people's kids are going to be swarming you. So what if the person in line in front of you is 3 ft tall or 5 ft 10"?
