I heard the podcast and he wasn't going to say anything but spit out what he said anyway.

Sure, the movie sucked but he didn't write it. He claimed in that podcast that he took an 80% pay cut to direct it because he needed the money to fund Red State. Which as we know can't find a distributor.
I'm to trying to defend Smith since nothing, not even Bruce Willis promoting it, could have helped that film make money. But I've heard him say that the only reason he agreed to be in Die Hard was to work along side Bruce Willis and that he loved him as an actor and was a big fan. Apparently things didn't go well on Cop Out.
