There's a very good chance that Baltimore alone beats the entire state of Indiana, and Baltimore isn't even the most murderous city.
There are at least a few cities that average around a murder a day. You need to go back at least a decade for that to be a regular occurrence in Indiana. If I remember it right a lot of the Indiana murders occur in Gary, and Chicago should get half credit for those.
