The Short Story of Tigerlily's Bad Morning

So, Tigerlily (our cat, about 6 years old) had a dentist appointment this morning. Accordingly, we put her food away overnight - by the morning, she was desperate for food, being super-annoying and pushy almost to the point of being destructive.
I went to get her carrier from the basement storage area. I turn around, and she's looking at me from the stairs ... and then she sees the carrier and starts running. She gets to the main floor (livingroom, kitchen) and decides to hide behind the island in the kitchen. I feint left, go right, she doubles back, and I let her sneak out of the kitchen because I can see that it will be impossible to use that room to capture her.
Rather than running into the living room and hiding under the sectional, she opts to go upstairs - where all three bedroom doors are closed, and the only open door is the bathroom. She tries to get by me on both sides, but I block her successfully with the carrier.
Then I put it down and wait for her to sneak past on the other side ... and I grab her as she goes by (gently, of course). A bit of wrestling later, and she's successfully sealed in the carrier via the top opening.
My wife says goodbye to the kitty, and I start taking the carrier down the stairs ... the carrier tilts forward a bit, and out shoots a cat through the front opening.
Grr.
This time, she goes and hides beside the sectional. Not under it - beside it. I slowly and calmly walk up to her and give her some pets before she can slink under the sectional, and I pick her up again to start the process over (obviously after re-checking the carrier for a proper seal).
Heh.
