I think you could really just replace the word "pods" with "traps", I don't think they all looked the same or anything. In my head the street one was as if the street were on hinges at the sidewalk or buildings and opened in the middle. As it opened more and more you couldn't stand on it any more so you had to get to the side and hold on.
