Which is fair, except the risk of said catastrophic bike accident is no greater than the risk of a catastrophic trampoline accident or catastrophic...

..Skiing accident or a catastrophic tobbogganing accident and so on and so on.
Like Havens said, take reasonable precautions, but also accept that if the worst is going to happen, it'll happen a helmet or not.
At some point, these safety drives are more show than substance.
