from DSLReports, unofficially posted by an alleged Shaw employee:
UBB at Shaw in its current form is gone. Any possible implementation of some form of controlling network congestion (whether it be throttling, some form of UBB, different packages, or nothing at all) will be created after consultation with the public in February and March. Straight up - all prior information regarding data packs and $1-$2/GB overages has been completely scrapped and Shaw is starting from scratch.
I work at Shaw, and this was sent to us from senior management. You should get the same information from any rep/supervisor/manager/etc you speak to. However, it seems like it was a little slow trickling down to all CSRs and TSRs, so it's possible that whoever you were speaking to had not received all the information yet.
Also, anybody who did purchase a data pack will be refunded.
