Yeah, I keep wanting to say that the Homer/Marge dynamic was written as a parody of the existing dumb-dad/taking-care-of-everything-mom trend, but...

Yeah, I think Simpsons preceded most of the notable examples of this. Home Improvement, Malcom in the Middle, Everybody Loves Raymond... only Married with Children might be the Simpsons-preceding example.
...and in that show, both parents were dumb, so...
