Right now; they're the only group the people have faith in.

extraordinary events sometimes lead to things that aren't upfront good.
If the military stabiliizes things in the next month or two and then gets out of the way for the new elections, it's best case....if they don't, it's bad case, but right now, the army in charge is probably the most stable outcome.
