I've been married 10 years, today. My husband is awesome pretty much everyday, but today is really special.

I'm sick. Like 103F temp, unable to breathe, pain in my face that makes it feel like it'll explode every time I bend over or stoop down, every joint in my body aches, coughing up nasty stuff, sick. This has been going on since Friday night. Mark has waited on me hand and foot, brings me hot tea whenever I ask for it, makes sure I've taken my meds, brings me a washrag to put on my eyes/forehead, makes me food but doesn't get upset when I can only eat a little bit of it.
As far as Valentine's day goes, I don't need any more "stuff", although last week I bought a pair of yoga pants and 2 long sleeved tagless Ts and told him that it was my Valentine/Anniversary present. He just laughed and said it was "fine, fine". If he got me flowers, the cats would eat them. I'm diabetic so chocolates are out (yes, I know you can buy sugar-free, but they taste nasty and they're full of carbs). Honestly, huge grandiose guestures tend to annoy me, I prefer to spend time with him watching a movie or playing cards, etc. Normally, we go out to dinner and maybe a movie. I'm so sick right now, that's out.
Valentine's Day and Anniversaries are days you should use to celebrate your relationship, not an excuse to pressure your mate to buy jewelry, over priced roses, or one more stuffed bear to add to the pile. I wanted yoga pants and some t shirts, that's what I got. He's been wanting BioShock 2, we picked that up the same day as the pants and shirts. You might not feel that it's romantic, but we know each other so well that it was perfect for us. Before anyone passes judgement on a certificate for a car detailing or a mani-pedi, or even a kitchen appliance (I want a pressure-cooker!), keep in mind that you don't KNOW the people involved.
One more thing for *some* of the single ladies here on ST, when was the last time you make a massive romantic guesture for the guy in your life? Men have feelings too, ya know.
