i would expect global corporations, most people and their elected representatives to resist this sort of one world-ism to the hilt....

to me it only makes sense since that's clearly the way business is conducted these days. but very few people are going to want to lead the charge on that, because it's a pretty unpopular stance to get out there and say you'd rather have a global organization oversee things that are (ostensibly) local concerns.
plus, the multinationals prefer the balkanized environment they get to operate in now so there'll be plenty of hefty lobbying against any move towards that sort of system.
