In terms of daily performance, which is better, an i7 with 4 GB of ram or an i5 with 6 GB? -- nm

My next machine will be an i7 with 8GB and a 3TB drive. It will certainly be running 64-bit apps as much as possible. -- nm

Avoid 64-bit office. So many add-ons will not work because they don't have 64-bit versions, only 32-bit -- nm

i7. Most people aren't going to need 4GB or even 6GB -- nm

*and* make sure you get the 4GB of RAM in the least number of sticks so that you can later upgrade to 6 or 8 easily without replacing sticks

also, the i7 is generally at least a quad-core processor, more helpful for Photoshop than an i5 (usually dual core) with more RAM, IMO -- nm

4GB is still more than enough, I'd say. *maybe* if you were working on some ginormous photoshop stuff you'd want 6GB but even then you'd need 64-bit

Our server transition is not going smoothly. My boss thinks we should dump them for better experts.
