In response to "Let me answer from the perspective of the patient." by David

Well, I'm actually going to say yes.

And here is the reason. The patient, while in the hospital and not really "with it" needs an advocate. There were a lot of times David had issues and it might have taken a nurse a little while to deal with them had someone not been there to page them to come check on him. Sometimes the person there really had to raise a stink to get certain things taken care of. It seemed to be worse during shift changes, which meant that the two people who had the most to "do" were David's brother, who was usually there at 4 p.m. and me, who stayed overnight into the morning.

One or two people probably isn't enough. But if there is a good shift of three that can be there for your dad, I think his stay will be better.
