I say go. And this isn't meant in a bad way, but it sounds like it sounds like in addition to it being important to you to be there for

him, it's important for you to be there for you too. It's your way of being there for your dad, even if he doesn't know you're there while your there. It's absolutely what I would do in that situation. Staying home just wouldn't feel right to me.

And even if your mom is saying don't come, she may need some moral support as well, and just isn't thinking of it in those terms right now.
