i don't think this dilemma is specific to jack. i can't blame any actor for giving the market (hollywood) what they want

it is such an unbelievably impossible numbers game for any actor to even break into film and television, let alone rise to the level of Nicholson, John Wayne, Julia Roberts, whatever A-List name you can think of. and then to stay at that level by stringing together box office hits is even more daunting

if the studio is willing to pay me $20 million a picture to be "Tom Cruise" because that's what the public wants to pay to see in theaters, I give them "Tom Cruise" in that movie
