Even before they went super-wide, films were 3:4 for quite some time before they started making them what we currently consider "widescreen". -- nm

Well, Scorcese's Film Foundation preserves movies using some digital medium that can definitely be called "HD." Moreso, even.

film resolution is theoretically infinite but is usually about 4X HD. -- nm
