A lot of this stuff gets tossed because we don't get that in the future they could have value...

most collectables, (the real stuff, not the beanie babies, commemorative plates and other crap) go through a period where they have no value, our grandparents have stories about having to pay to have those heavy old brass beds hauled away to the dump cause nobody wanted them.
comic books, geez get this trash scrap paper out of here.
I remember dumping a bunch of stuff from the democratic convention in San Fran, I had a box full, press passes, releases handouts (though nothing signed or anything) but still a nice collection.
