Both got to a point where they cracked under pressure. Angelo salted something so badly that it was inedible, and there was no way the judges could allow that from a top chef since no one else came even close to being that bad. Tom's blog stated that they all knew, when eating, that angelo was going to go. He had lost his edge.
In many respects that is what happened to dale this weak. He jiust got overwhelmed by the challenge, lost his cooking "sense" and served badly undercooked and over-spiced food when everyone else at least served something edible. If you ignore the undercooked food, then I bet it was hoim or tiffany to go, but dale had the ace in the hole, so to speak.
