Your company certainly has a process for lost property. In any event, you need to report the find in some official way.

Usually, after a period, after advertising its finding, you may be able to claim the safe.

Keep us posted.
PS: Be as elegant as you can in handling every element of this loss -- it cuts close. Take care of yourself, too.
