do you understand why a resident of New York or California might be more likely to pay more taxes in all 50 states than someone in N. Dakota or Idaho?

by that study's measurments, if I'm Mel Gibson and own a big fucking ranch in Montana and pay property taxes on all that acreage, but live in Malibu (and own and pay taxes on all my California expenses as well), that study lumps all of Mel's taxes from Montana in with his California bill for purposes of calculating his "overall" tax burden
it's bullshit
