Where else is he going to go? No other tv show will pay him as much even if they were crazy enough to hire him.

And I can't see any serious analysis saying he'll earn as much *and reliably* as he does in tv. So he's faced with "Take the money and stand on top of the crap heap or take nothing and do nothing."
