I watched a couple episodes of Beyond Scared Straight, it's strangely compelling.

It's weird to see the transformations that do and don't happen with some kids. It can be extremely uplifting when you see a kid make a real change in their life. By the same token though, it's heart rending when you see a kid keep on going down the same path, even after seeing what his/her choices will likely lead them.
