The less involved we are, the less we commit ourselves to either side, the better things will work out.

We cannot throw any leader under the bus until we're sure the bus will crush them. And if we support the bus drivers then they start to lose legitimacy and look like they might be tools for our preferences.
What's going on over there needs to happen organically and we need to stay out of it as much as possible.
Condemn the atrocities, support the people's call for more openness and say in their government. Anything more than that and it looks like we're meddling.
In the short term, things may not look good for our interests in the area. But mid to long term? This shit needs to happen and we will reap all sorts of dividends in the future.
