the "twist" in act two doesn't serve any dramatic purpose other than to manipulate the audience into tearjerker mode.

also, how can you not root for Clint's character's decision in that situation when the bumpkin golddigging family from Arkansas is drawn with all the subtlety of a Lil' Abner cartoon?
