I'd stop at the nearest good hotel that had both a bar and a jacuzzi.

And I would've turned off my cell phone for the entire drive back, too.
I don't mind family squabbles, but to be taken for granted and then berated for not fulfilling some 'responsibility' I didn't know about would've driven me straight over the edge ... which, come to think of it, is what usually happens when I visit my father back in Illinois.
