I ripped the knees out of a pair of jeans when I fell the other day.

So, in a sense, I can feel your pain. And personally, I love cargo shorts. Never owned a pair of cargo pants, but my cargo shorts have gotten me through summers for the past 5 years.
And sorry to hear about your aunt. It does sound like a form of dementia, though, unfortunately.
