I wouldn't worry. I'd simply approach him with an olive branch about removing the biggest threat. Since he lasted a long time on redemption island he has shown to be a powerful player and should take it as a compliment.
I would make sure his gf got voted off soon, and I'd make sure that it was orchestrated by someone else.
