The key difference is how frequent the fights occur.

But in both cases, they often occur when one player (or both) are chipping away at each other over the course of the game and one (or both) finally turns it into a fight.
The AJ/Courtney Finnegan fight this last season was a similar thing with Finnegan egging on AJ over and over again until AJ finally socked the vermin.
Give some offensive linesmen some sticks when they are at scrimmage and let them hack at each other and see if that increases the instances of fights on the football field.
