So, the airwaves belong to US and the channels just lease them, but the one station/network that is ours can't be funded by our money?

Dear GOP you represent all the constituents in your State/District and some of us favor using a small portion of our taxes to fund it. Mostly because those of us that listen to it really get tired of the Pledge begs around the second week.

One is money in, the other is money out. Though I'm of the opinion that if PBS and NPR are valued by their listeners, then they can survive as

The stations get a mix of funding from state and federal, grants and donations.
